When did you start as a rapper and where did your artist name come from?
I started rapping seriously in 2005/ I got the name YoungSauce 'Da God' because I use to do this dance where it looks like i'm stirring up something so my friends started calling me sauce and I just came up wit the rest.

Talk a bit about your new single, "Ride Wit Me."
"Ride Wit Me" was a record I found on youtube and instantly I got inspired when I heard the melody and hard hitting bass/I was in the car when I heard it so I came up with ride wit me and its basically a chant/vibe kinda of record I wanted to give it that throwback feel because no one is doing that right now and be a game-changer. Hot Handz is a old friend from my hometown of Columbus, Ohio and we both relocated to Charlotte,NC and I thought he would be a great fit on the record.

What does your creative process look like?
Creative process is pretty simple. I like to surf the net for beats and listen to them while I'm in the car driving and if it hits me I instantly create it in my head and piece it all together.

Who do you make music for?
I make music for me and people who love hip hop and really have a passion for music.

What's the hip-hop scene like in your city?
Currently I just recently relocated to Atlanta from Charlotte, NC but Charlotte music scene is growing rapidly due to the success of Da Baby. So the rap game has its eye on whole Carolinas now and the support of local talent is rising fast.
What should we be on the lookout for in 2019 from YoungSauce Da God?
Be on the lookout for more music, tour dates, etc.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?
Ride wit me being received so well getting on the radio and just the love and support of the fans has been dope and I'm very thankful and blessed.

What producers or artists would you like to work with in the coming year?
No one in particular. Just anyone who is dope and has a great vibe and makes lit music and who is dedicated.

Are you familiar with the hip-hop scene here in Chattanooga? If so, are there any artists you're rocking with here?
Not yet but I'm looking forward to coming to the city and meeting some artists, djs, producer, bloggers etc. (Hit him up, y'all!)

Rapid-fire questions:
Last TV show you binged? Stranger Things
Tacos or Sushi for life? Tacos
Favorite toy from your childhood? Hulk Hogan wrestling figure
Rick and Morty or Dragon Ball Super? Rick and Morty

When did you start creating music and what/who was your inspiration?
I started making music when I was 16 but I stopped and cranked back up about 2 years ago! My inspiration came from freestyling at my mommas crib with the homies at the kitchen table. That’s when I knew I was blessed with the talent.

The hip hop scene in knox is very diverse. We are coming up fa sho. In one word to explain the scene I would have to say DOPE.

What does your creative process look like?
My creative process consist of a 2 of Hi Tech and going through numerous beats until I hear one that catches my ear. Oh yea and lifesaver gummies. Those are the necessities. As far as recording I like to get in and get out. Work on the hook, get it sounding crispy and then onto the hook.

Nashville based artist D.O.U.G.H is back with new music with, "No More Free Sauce" and "Fun and Games," produced by Chris King (produced for Jaquees - Ex Games, Bryson Tiller - Rambo, Lecrae). This new music is the first taste of his upcoming 'Half-A-Dozen" EP dropping this summer, which will also be produced by Chris King.

We reached out to D.O.U.G.H. to learn a bit more about the up-and-coming artist in the Music City. "I really didn’t take music serious as an artist until 2011. Before then I had made a mixtape but was focused more on making beats. My name at first was Jawn Dough and Dough is actually comes from the mispronunciation of my last name which is Duo. Presently D.O.U.G.H. is an acronym that stands for Driven Only Under God’s Hands." D.O.U.G.H. tells us he makes music for those who haven't always walked the straight and narrow and are a 'work in progress.' He feels his music is for that college grad trying to navigate through life or those who work a 9 to 5 but still have ambition to make something of themselves.

The new EP isn't all that D.O.U.G.H. has coming in 2019. He plans to drop a visual for "No More Free Sauce" soon. Also, in his plans for this year, is hitting the road. "There are some cities and markets I would like to tap into. I’m also working behind the scenes with my team HGHR GRND to develop other talent in Middle TN."

Check out the new music below, and be on the lookout for the new EP as well as the visuals for "No More Free Sauce."

We've been circulating the state, highlighting artists all across Tennessee, in the hopes that collaborations will increase from city to city. Here's the latest artist from Nashville: Kemosabi. He's been highlighted in the "20/20" articles on Tha Milk Drop and has recently been on a show docket with some Chattanooga artists. Y'all check out his music and what he's got to say!

When did you start creating music and where did your rap name come from?
"I started making music my freshman year at SIU in 2016 with my homie Jack Fear and quickly met several other artists up there who taught me a lot in the beginning stages of my music. I met people like Mees and Izzy Cee who really helped me understand the game itself back then. Since then we've all grown exponentially but they taught me some of my first lessons as a "rapper". My name is a funny story lowkey. One night me and my little brother had snuck outside to smoke lmao, we were still in high school and shit. But I remember it was windy as hell and we couldn't get the joint to stay lit because of it. Finally my brother got it going and he looked at me trying to pass it fast so it wouldn't go out and he like yelled "Keep it rolling Kemosabi!" and we started geeking our asses off. You know those laughs you used to have back when you weren't a veteran stoner lol. It wasn't til I had been making music a couple of months when it dawned on me to go by Kemosabi when I rapped, after that it just stuck and people started calling me Kemo."

What are you currently working on and any new drops soon?
"Right now I'm finishing my first ever solo project. It like 6 songs and I've got a few vibes tucked in there. It's called BOOYAKA and I've got a few vibes tucked away in it. It's got songs that everyone's gonna turn up to and songs people can just kickback and spark up to. Most of the tracks have visuals too, one I shot in Miami with @meesmadeit when I did a festival down there in April, I've even got a food fight video that I think people will fuck with. Look out for BOOYAKA on all streaming platforms June 28th!"

How would you describe your music and who do you make music for?
"I make music for me, I make what I'm feeling in the moment I like to make that high energy hype shit the most. I love performing it and getting the crowd lit. But I also like making stuff people can really vibe too. Recently got in my auto-tune bag with my engineer @bradleycartersound you'll hear it on the project I think it's different, not just that cookie cutter auto-tune singing we hear everywhere nowadays. My music's for hella people whether they're the life of the party, folks that are out here on they grind everydaycwith a 9-5, the ladies who bossed tf up on the world, or even the introverted people because I can get the same way when my social battery dies."

You recently had a performance shut down by a venue, can you talk about that a bit?
"Maann that was a funny night let me first start off by saying after we shut it down I went back inside and talked to the security guards and the owner and they were cool about it. The owner even said if it wasn't his bar he "woulda been up front going crazy WITH y'all". The security dude who threw us out was nice after I talked to him for a second it was all good. But the reason we got shut down was we were a little too wild lmao Like I was on top of a table the homies were all lit (shoutout Colt Cupit & Sterling) but the final straw was well shit imma blame it on mees. My man Mees was on top of the Dj booth throwing water lmfao the energy was so lit but apparently the venue was not fucking with it. A Security man came up and snatched the mic out of my hand and made them stop the music after that I think we just started yelling " fuck em!"  I think it was a good experience honestly it's a cool story to tell and lots of people actually responded really well to it. Talking to some people who were watching inside before we shut it down they really loved the energy we brought, actually made a few new friends/fans."
Picture
What's your local hip-hop scene like? What's the best and worst thing about it?
"Nashville's scene is bubbling right now, I think any time could be our big moment. All its gonna take is one artist or one hit song and to really get the rest of the country's eyes on us as a city that's producing the amazing music it is. There's so much talent out here it's ridiculous we're gonna blow like south florida did a couple of years ago. We got folks really doin damage with the numbers to back it up too, it's only a matter of days/weeks/months. I see it taking off in less than a year for real."

What does your creative process look like?
"Shoot my recording process consists of good gas, plenty water, a few of my close artist homies (NO NEW PEOPLE). I hate trying to record when there's people I don't really know like that in the room. I used to get kind of self conscious or nervous about stuff like that, but recently I've gained a lot of confidence in my art and it's allowing me to feel a lot more comfortable with strangers in the studio. Nashville's kenny beats aka @bradleycartersound has lowkey been helping me with that because at his crib you never know who tf might be there when you pull up to record. He's forced me to meet a bunch of really talented people I wouldn't of gotten to know by myself. He'e lowkey the reason me Walt Flames and Boomlord have gotten some work in. I slick had wanted to work with Walt and Boom both for a little while now so I'm excited for people to hear that. Sometimes while me and the team get to recording we break out that liquor, sometimes you just reach that perfect fade and make some of the best art."

Digging any hip-hop artists in Chattanooga?
"Hell yeah I actually met YG Tut at a show in Knoxville we were both on (yeah the one we shut down) and I really liked his music. The whole sound and vibe was unique in the fact that it's straight bars. He's not trying to sound like everyone, he performs with soul and you can tell he lives what he spits. My boy @JackFear615 put me on to Isaiah Rashad in highschool but I've recently gained a new respect for his music, a friend of mine showed me some unreleased shit he's got and that hoe slapped. We just rode around in the whip and burned one while he played me a couple things I liked everything he played and I don't even listen to conscious rap like that as much as I used to."

How have you and your music evolved since you began?
"Bro my music has been through some shit! Came a long way from recording on Icytwat beats in the dorm room off youtubetomp3 lol. I used to rap like idk heavily Mac Miller inspired. (Rest in paradise Mac) He influenced me a lot in my early days. After a while I found my own style where I've been able to make my sound a little less wordy and more about the feeling and energy I want to live by all the time. I would say around October/November of 2018 is when I really began to develop the sound I wanted and since then it's been refined to something I'm extremely confident in."

What other artists & producers have you worked with? Who would you want to work with?
"I've got collabs in the cut with a lot a lot of really talented artists and producers. I've got songs on beats from people like LilKaydee, Chupi, @NEPHWTHAPIMP (one of the hardest working I know), @Meesmadeit, Swirl, hellas from @bradleycartersound, This dude from the Netherlands I met online Dot 50 (@dot.50official) his beats fit me so well, @izzycee_ (first song I broke 1,000 plays on was on an izzy beat thats the man fr). I've got collabs in the vault with @WaltFlames, @1ORGNLZEN aka Boomlord shoutout them socs, @MXWLL22,, @jackfear615, @ Roninblackboi, Nephw, Lil Gerald, M.stus, and I got one with ronsocold that might be coming out soon. I really wanna work with so many people like shit: Topper Atwood (Top if u reading sorry bout the Jelly Roll comment lmao), LilBruhDavis, Eddy NIz, Buku Steez, Maniia, Septiembre, Iman Dillard, Pablito, Mikey Foreign, Delta Fi$h, Swayyvo, Terrence 615, Fxnesse2x (man we always cap when we supposed to link lol), and a bunch more I don't have time to say. I wanna work with anyone who wants to work get at me Kemosabi615@gmail.com."

Who are your musical influences?
"Of course I said Mac Miller from back in the day also Speakerknockerz, Playboi Carti, X (RIP :( , KEY!, Chief Keef, Rich the Kid, Famous Dex, Uzi, Wiz, Rae Sremmurd both Swae and Jxmmy, Nudy and 10k caash that man funny af."

Rapid-fire questions:
Family Guy or Rick and Morty?

"Rick and Morty easy"

Favorite candy?
"Sour Patch kids"

Drumettes or flats?
"damnnnnnnnn, drummies easier to dip but aint nothing like a a lemonpepper flat. Imma say flats."

"Yo last thing I've got a visual out now for my latest song "Merch" ft. Mees featured below. Y'all enjoy that until the project drops June 28th.

Much love I appreciate the interview guys. Again shoutout Colt Cupit and everyone else who's gotten me to where I am today I'd be a whole lot worse at this music stuff."

Taylor Narain, the Soulful Nomad

By Sammy Lowdermilk
Taylor Narain is a name that will pass across more lips in 2019, I can almost guarantee it. Even though she has Knoxville roots, she is a self-proclaimed nomad that exudes confidence which bleeds over into her music.  Her soulful sound makes you quickly fall in love with the journey of each song. I expect big things in the near future for this artist. Check out the Q&A and do what she says and put her on some new Chattanooga artists!

When did you start creating music and where did the artist name come from?
I first started creating music when I was 14/15ish. I started experimenting by hopping on other artists tracks as features at first. I was also a member in a collective, for a short while, out of Knoxville. Wasn’t until around 2015/16 when I started doing my own thing. A lot of people actually know me by the first name I went by, “Dreama”. For me it was a play because I actually like to interpret dreams for people in my spare time but I was also becoming and learning little by little who I was. I realized that I dreamed a lot..like literally daydreamed about how my life would be, what’d I do, and how I’d impact others and make a change but all she did was dream up these great schemes and never actually fulfilled them. Taylor Narain, though she gets shit done. That’s the name I go by now. Dreama’ is my ego and “Taylor Narain” is the evolved me in its simplest form. Just me, Taylor Narain. No back story behind it, it’s just my name. If I had to sum a “back story” up for “Taylor Narain” though, I’d quote it with these lyrics from Kendrick, “I done been through a whole lot. Trial, tribulation but I know God”.

Who are your musical influences?
Shit, there’s so many! I’m most definitely heavily inspired by some of my favorites like TLC, Bjork, Amel Larrieux and Solange.

What's coming in 2019 from you?
Great things I believe. I’ve got hella singles to put out, I have a whole album written and I’m currently working on a lil ep to drop before I release my album. It’s very exciting for me; I’m so ready to share and relate to others. I hope everyone is just as excited to receive my beautiful creations, as I am to give them.
What's your creative process look like and what artists, producers, etc. do you typically work with?
My creative process, to me, looks like growing a plant, I guess. I’ll literally start with a seed(a thought, hook, melody) and nurture my way through, figuring out what that one song in particular needs from me in order to become something I’m satisfied with. Something that I feel like healed something in me. Then on top of that I get to release it to the people to feel as well (the fruit). I think music, to me and many others, is for healing and we all need healing I believe. So I feel like if it healed something in me maybe it could do the same for you.

As far as artists I typically work with there’s not many right now. I started out only working with Thelo-Q, my brother and artist out of Knoxville. I’ve worked with others since then but not too many. I now typically work with artist Alexander12 out of Nashville. He makes all of my beats at the moment. I like to keep it solo though for the time being. I’m super selective when it comes to creating with others. The vibrations and intentions gotta be right. I don’t really just make music with any and everyone, per preference but that’s just me. I wanna see/show what I can do on my own before I just start collaborating with mad artists. I’d love to change that in the near future though because I do enjoy creating with others.

What's your local hip-hop/music scene like?
The music scene in Knoxville is poppin from what I hear! Rooftop Collective is doing the damn ting most definitely. I haven’t lived there or been involved in a minute, though. I just be on some nomad shit right now, to be honest. Just finding my way through, doing my thing and whom ever resonates with what I’m doing; how I’m moving is just that.

What genre would you consider your music? Who do you make music for?
Soul music most definitely. That’s what I make it for; the healing of the soul.
I make music for people who need healing and everyone needs healing, I believe. So, this shit’s for everyone who can dig it. I want my music to help others release emotions and just old shit that maybe they didn’t know they were still holding on to. It’s nothing like feeling something and then letting it go.

What motivates you?
Shit, Mother Nature. She just keeps going..keeps regenerating, creating, making anew. No matter the circumstance..no matter how much damage has been done the universe still finds a way to keep going. The world doesn’t stop spinning for a single thing or issue, I’ve learned. So, I try not to either. I know I have to make decisions and act on them. If I stop for every little thing I might miss something that I need for my journey. I strive to be like her...to keep pushing through adversity. To transcend.

Any Chattanooga artists that you're into?
Not really familiar with the scene like that..I fucks with TUT and Isaiah Rashad though lol so cliche, I know, but shit it is what it is. Either they the coldest they got there, which is why I’m only familiar with them, or I’m sleep. Shit, put me on!

What does success look like for you?
DOING WHAT THE FUCK YOU KNOW YOU CAME HERE TO DO. In my opinion, fame does not equal success. Living out your true life purpose is success. Everyone has a purpose and if you know what it is do that shit and you’re bound to be successful. If you don’t know yet, get active and care enough about your future to figure that shit out. Look for that shit...dig, ask yourself questions, experiment with things. You’ll find it in the madness that is you. Sometimes we are chaos but I feel like you can always find the beauty in that.

Rapid fire questions:

Favorite cereal?
Ion eat it

Favorite cartoon?
I like satirical shit so stuff like South Park, Boondocks and Daria; my cup of tea

One day to binge one show or series of movies, what would it be?
Black Mirror

Childhood toy you wish you still had?
Shit! You all remember that lil Spider-Man glove that came with like this can of “string” that you could shoot out like a web. Miss that shit, mane. .‘(

Q&A with FXNESSE2X

5/28/2019

Picture
By Sammy Lowdermilk
FXNESSE2X is a rising artist out of Antioch, TN, and has been featured in a previous '20/20 with Colt Cupit'. Check out the Q&A with this Middle Tennessee rapper and be sure to give his music a spin!

When did you start creating music and where did the artist name come from?

As an artist, I started December 2018. As a producer, (which at the moment I no longer do) I started maybe 2011 or 2012? Whenever my 8th grade and freshman year was. FXNESSE I randomly came up with no story to it really. I was sniper beats at first and I was gonna change it to O2 from FXNESSE. I added the 2X officially to my name because that’s was my Instagram handle. Then me making my tag is what solidified the name.

Who are your musical influences?
I’d say Future, Uno, SahBabii Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne... too many to name but as far as my style, def a mix of Future, Uno, and Sahbabii, of course with my own swag. Production wise I never really looked up to anyone, I just more so liked others production but it never influenced my sound.

What's coming in 2019 from you?
Me going up. That’s what I’m pushing for day in and out. My work speaks for itself and my work ethic. My style is unmatched so I know it’s only a matter of time until my sounds becomes the wave. You’ll def see a lot of consistency from me this year most importantly.

What's your creative process look like and what artists, producers, etc. do you typically work with?
Honestly I just sit down and record when I feel like it. I never try to force myself to make something if I’m not in the mood, that’s how you end up with a bad product imo. Sober, high, it’s whatever. I typically don’t work with other artist. I have done several features because I fw the artist, but other than that, it’s all me. I really rather not work with anyone so I don’t have to answer to anyone about anything, and unless if it’s beneficial to us both.

What's your local hip-hop/music scene like?
Antioch is thriving I really feel we’re next to be in the spotlight. A shit load of amazing artist and producers, actually all aspects of the game. It’s crazy really. Could be bigger as far as fans, but the artist are def here.

What genre would you consider your music? Who do make music for?
Just rap. I make music for everyone I feel. Cuz I think I can relate to all types of walks of life no matter what type of person you are. It’s something in my music that’ll say something to you. I’m not just talking shit.

What motivates you?
My dreams coming true. And proving everyone wrong.

Any Chattanooga artists that you're into?
Honestly haven’t got into any Chattanooga artist but I’d def be willing to get put onto some. My grandmother lives there actually so that would be cool.

What does success look like for you?
Success to me looks like having everything I need and want without having to worry and feel like I’m stuck. I just wanna wake up, do a show, count up and take care of my people.

Rapid-fire questions:
TV show or movie you watch that no one would expect?
Lottery ticket is my favorite movie. man tbh I’m not into tv shows and movies damn near at all.

Michael Jordan or Bo Jackson?
def Michael Jordan. Bo shoes don’t hit like that.

Favorite candy?
Y’all probably never heard of these hoes but get some “bit-o-honey” them hit like shit then I'd say the white chocolate Oreo bars. Then the Albanese gummy bears. Top 3.

By Sammy Lowdermilk
A few weeks ago we interviewed YM and he mentioned a meeting with Nick Cannon about a show on Nickelodeon. Well, guess what? It's now a reality! Chattanooga's 12-year old rising star will be on the new Nickelodeon show, NCREDIBLE KIDS! We spoke with YM's mother and Chattanooga rapper/singer/creative, Dameka Rochelle, about this opportunity and their weekend visit with Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey!
What is the premise of the show?
The show will be about 5 boys joining as a new modern day group similar to the Jackson 5. They are going to be doing bootcamp activities, viral challenges and music while being under one roof showing the ins and outs of becoming one group.

How did Nick Cannon find YM or how was that connection made?
Nick Cannon discovered YM on Instagram.  Some of our combined supporters went to Nick Cannon's page and tagged YM'S name as he was looking for the next big star.

What was the trip to California like?
The trip was AMAZING  Nick Cannon flew us out took care of everything and placed us in a nice hotel right in Beverly Hills. The most exciting part after the meeting of course was going to Nick and Mariah Carey's kids surprise party . Meeting and icon was so dope. Neyo was there as well as Big Boi .Very beautiful and humble beings.

When does filming start and when is an estimated debut of the show?
Filming is scheduled to take place between June /July. It will last for about 2 months. We don't have details on the debut of the show as of now but there are more big surprises coming along the way.

How do you anticipate YM's life to change and will he have to be out in California?
I expect YM'S life to completely be far from normal at the age of 12. He already broke a record not to mention soon to be on Nickelodeon.  I think we will all be excited to see how far YM will truly go. Nick Cannon co signed said that YM was definitely a STAR I think we should all be aware the light YM carries.  YM will be in Hollywood off and on with plans of eventually having to move to California. Every kid that is currently in the group are all from California. YM beat the odds by being the only kid from the south. Proud of YM.

Thermo: The "Wanderlove" Preview

5/1/2019

Picture
By Sammy Lowdermilk
What's the new project "Wanderlove" about? Is there a theme or is it a collection of unrelated thoughts? ("Wanderlove" drops May 14th!)
The meaning behind "Wanderlove" is actually a few different things... The word Wanderlove is actually a word I kind of made up branched off of the word wanderlust which means a strong desire to travel. I put my own twist on the word and made "Wanderlove" which I meant to mean a strong desire to travel with love. The first successful song that I released to the public I actually named "Wanderlove" so it's just kind of a sentimental thing for me and just kind of felt right naming my debut album the same thing! Another reason I decided to go with "Wanderlove" is that a majority of the songs on my album are love songs or songs you may put in the same category so it really just made sense.

Who all did you work with on the project?
I worked with a handful of different artist on this album, the features include some artist from the label I am signed to ( Rack Racer Music Group ) including Orion Hunter, Mike Jet, T Rizer & 3rd Shyft. I also worked with one other producer whose name is Bayley Hodge aka "Kyleton" he produced 3 of the 10 songs on my album. The rest of the songs were actually produced by myself! I also mixed and mastered every single song.

You just joined the Rack Racer Music Group. What inspired you to be a part of it and who initially reached out?
I love being a part of Rack Racer Music Group ( RRMG ) I was inspired to sign with the label because it doesn't simply just feel like a label. I have gotten really close with a lot of these people and it has gotten to where it feels more like a family to me. All of my best friends nowadays are also artist who are signed to RRMG... T Rizer was the one who initially reached out. I was actually recording in a studio with Orion Hunter & Mike Jet at the time that was owned by someone else at the time and he would let us use it when he wasn't there! Orion & T Rizer were introduced by a local engineer and he then introduced him to us. One thing led to another and today we are all three signed artists to RRMG!

When did you start creating music and what or who was the inspiration?
I actually started doing music when I was 16 years old. I had gotten grounded for doing some things my parents didn't agree with and they put me on lockdown for the whole summer! I had a Mac computer that had garage band on it so I would download instrumental beats off of YouTube and drag it into garage band and continued to write to these beats. When I finished I had a pair of beats headphones that had a small microphone on it that I would record my vocals into. I really just started doing it because I was bored but it turned into something that I am extremely passionate about. I had a brother who passed away at the age of 2 months, his name was Garrison and I would say that he is the biggest inspiration in not just my music but in everyday life.

What else is in store in 2019 for Thermo? And what are your goals for this year?
No doubt there will be more music to come this year! After the album is released on May 14th I will then start working on music videos and such. I've also got some singles already lined up for the summer and towards the end of the year. Some of my goals for 2019 include growing my fan base and getting some more live shows lined up! I have made some huge accomplishments already and we are only 4 months into the year so I can't wait to see what the rest of 2019 has in store for me!

Rapid fire, random questions:
Pizza or burger? Burger no doubt!
Favorite childhood toy? My favorite childhood toy had to be my skateboard. I would go outside and ride my skateboard around for hours.
If you have a couple of hours in a day, what are you watching? If I have a few hours of free time I'm definitely watching The Office!
Fun or interesting fact about you that most don't know? An interesting fact about me that most people don't know is that I actually played sports my whole life and had goals of playing college athletics but I actually tore my ACL my junior and senior year of high school so those goals were shot down the drain.
