This week I linked up local Chatt rapper Boochie Levi to get his perspective on music, life and the scene in the 423. His latest track ‘Like Me’ is quickly racking up the plays and it’s definitely a banger.
Where are you from? What area do you feel like you best represent?
Boochie: I’m from Chattanooga, TN. That's the area I represent fa sho. Wouldn't have it any other way.
What/who got you first interested in music?
Boochie: Pac, Biggie, and Nas is what inspired me to rap.
Who are some of your current inspirations?
Boochie: Some of my greatest inspirations currently is Future. I love his creativity with different melodies. Cassidy too, I love his lyrics and the comeback he's making.

What’s the story behind your music?
Boochie: The story behind my music is my trial, errors, and life as a upcoming indie artist trying to build his own label
What makes you different from other artists?
Boochie: What makes me different from other artist is I freestyle my tracks and my lyrics. Most big time artists have ghostwriters. Plus I try to isolate myself from other people sound and create my own. Plus I have unpredictable styles and deliveries..with punchlines.
Briefly take me through your process for creating.
Boochie: My process for creating is pick the beat. Think of what I wanna say or what message I'm trying to get across. Once the beat play immediately start freestyling. If it's a go I record right then. No pen no pad.
Who’s an artist that’s really slept on right now?
Boochie: I think Don Trip is being slept on. Some of his videos has at least a million views.
How do you balance music with the rest of your life?
Boochie: I balance being a artist and other aspects of life with realistic goals. I also differ what's most important to what's least important as far as budget cap. I still have bills.
What’s one of the hardest lines you’ve spit?
Boochie: One of the hardest lines I ever used was “I get cake, Money It chase. Pockets knotted up like a beat up face. Treat me like sentence and gimme my space. The strap like boxers it stays on waist.”
What trends do you want to set in the scene?
Boochie: I love Levi Clothes. That's how I got the name Boochie Levi. I want to set a trend rocking Levi's clothes. I'mma fanatic. I feel like I'm wearing designer when I put it on. You don't see anyone doing it. Plus it affordable.
What things are you trying to change in the rap game?
Boochie: The thing I want to bring to the rap game is originality and bring the punchline fans back
What are some themes that you really focus on in your music?
Boochie: Some themes I focus with my music is for party events. And times when people are down or feel alone and need someone to relate too. I want to let them know there not alone.
Who are you making music for?
Boochie: I make music for my fans. I also use it as a therapeutic outlet.
Which artist would you love to collaborate with?
Boochie: I would love to collaborate with artist like Gates, Future, Gotti, Boosie,Dolph, Don Trip, and Lito
Talk about any obstacles that you’ve overcome to pursue your career.
Boochie: The obstacles I've overcame was dealing with promotion and a budget cap considering I'm an indie Artist. This line of work isn't cheap.
How would you best describe your brand/style?
Boochie: I would best describe my style as good vocals and sound. When people hear me for the first time. They don't even believe it's me.
What do you want to be known for?
Boochie: I want to be known for freestyling hits, with a unique variety of sounds and styles. Good Vibes.
Are there some other forms of media that inspire you? (Movies, art, TV, etc)
Boochie: The movie ‘Poetic Justice’ inspired me although it had nothing to do with rap. Seeing Pac motivated me.
Anything that you want to promote? Shows, projects or shoutouts?
Boochie: I want to promote my latest track "Like Me". It already has over 5k plays. Shoutout out to Jon C from Winners Circle for producing the beat and T Rollin on The Beat for producing the record.
