DRIP DROPS of HIP-HOP from CHATTANOOGA
By Julian Cuebas
I linked up with Clxudmane online through one of my high school friends. We were both in our first years of making music. We weren’t even at a point of experimentation yet. We each were grasping for sounds each collaboration and supported each other to keep going. He’s been gone awhile, but now he’s back! Sounding more confident than ever. This is Tha Clxudmane interview.
1. Who is Clxudmane? What MC names have you had previously. Clxudmane is the product of a former deathcore kid who fell in love with the underground Cloud Rap scene on the internet in 2014. I used to go by the name Masqs when I first started. There was a mask I wore and tried to create a dark aesthetic. Not longer after, I found it corny and scrapped the whole name and image. 2. What genre/genre style would you say you fit in? Clxudmane: It’s hard for me to say. It’s for sure a form of rap music. But I mix it with a lot of different elements from other kinds of aggressive music. There’s definitely punk and death metal elements in my sound. 3. Who do you write music for? Clxudmane: I write it for me, mainly. I think about what I want to hear when I go to shows. I love mosh pits, and I try to make music that people can tear each other up too. 4. What’s been a challenge for you to overcome in music? Clxudmane: Finding my sound and being able to find my confidence when I’m recording. Before when I would record, it would sound really monotone and dry. I would try to down pitch my voice because I hated hearing it. I’ve only recently realized that if I go into every recording with confidence, it sounds a thousand times better. 5. What’s a recent success you’ve enjoyed in your music community lately? Clxudmane: It’s not a big one, but I had something like 330 plays on SoundCloud this week. That’s more than I have ever had. It just goes to show that if you have confidence in what you’re doing and focus on it, people will like it. 6. What’s your dream country to play in? Clxudmane: I haven’t played a live show yet, so that’s still on my to-do list, but I definitely would love to play in Japan. I’ve always wanted to go there. 7. What got you into music? Clxudmane: I spent my teenage years in Huntington, WV. There wasn’t a lot to do there. So after school I would always play guitar in my room.. Or listen to music and search for unheard artists. It amazed me how much there was always so much unheard of talent. 8. What project would you like people to check out? Clxudmane: I released an EP called Kurt Angle Wrist. It’s aggressive, angry, and the bass hits hard. Definitely something to blast out your whip on the the way home from a shitt day at work. 9. Any other comments? Clxudmane: Check out my collective .Exeboyz. There is so much talent in the group and I’m shocked some of those dudes haven’t blown up yet but they will. Music from Clxudmane
